PTR - Missing
PTR - Missing
Solution
If you have received the following error "5.7.1 PTR missing."
Then your outgoing mail server does not have a PTR(Reverse lookup) configured for its IP address.
You will need to have this resolved before you will be able to send to the recipient.
You can check if it is configured correctly at the following url,
http://mxtoolbox.com/diagnostic.aspx
Just enter (your servers ip) and click test.
Extra information:
Internet standards dictate these requirements.
RFC1912 2.1 Says you should have a reverse DNS for all your mail servers.
They also dictate that the SMTP response greeting should reply with your FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name).
Speak to your IT department or Internet Service Provider if you are not sure who is responsible for your outgoing mail server.
